To coincide with Earth Day, an energy saving light bulb capable of working for 20 years hit the market yesterday!

 

The LED light bulb originally had a price tag of $60 but Philips (the manufacturer) has arranged discounts and rebates to bring that price down to around $25 in certain areas.  While the $25 price may still seem a bit high, Philips says that it will save consumers $165 in energy costs over its lifetime and, if it replaced every 60-watt incandescent bulb in the country, we would save $3.9 billion in electricity in just one year.
