We've been hearing a lot in the news lately that millennial women are now out earning their male peers in the workplace but CNN just released a report that says that's not really true!
The study was done with men and women one year out of college and the women are earning TOUSANDS of dollars less per year than the men. Men earned an average salary of $42,918 and women $35.296 (that's nearly an $8,000 difference!!!). See photo below.
Experts first said that the reasoning behind this is because men, typically, choose majors that result in more lucrative careers after graduation (think: engineering) and that most men worked more hours than women. However, even when controlling the factors, by looking at men and women with the same majors... same jobs... same hours... women were still paid 7% less than men!
