I had the wonderful opportunity to take a few listeners to LA for an advanced screening of the new movie "Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters." We also had a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to the press junket where we got to meet and interview the stars and director of the movie (Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen and Tommy Wirkola). What an amazing experience!
We saw the movie on Friday evening at the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. If you're into movies that combine action, horror and dark comedy... Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters is for you! I'm not sure what I was more impressed by... Jeremy Renner's obvious sexiness and amazing acting, Gemma Arterton's brilliant "I'm a bad ass and I know it" demeanor throughout the movie, Famke Janssen's ability to sit through hours and hours of make up to scare the hell out of us with her witch role, or Tommy Wirkola's amazingly sick and twisted take on this old-meets-new fairy tale story! The amount of detail that went into every ounce of acting, directing and special effects in this movie absolutely blew me away. If you want to check out the action packed movie trailer, click HERE!
There press junket was on Saturday afternoon. We were bussed to The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills to interview the stars and director of the movie. They had a huge spread of free food and drinks available for us while we waited for our turns (I opted for just water because I was a little nervous and the last thing I wanted to do was puke salsa on Jeremy Renner).
My first interview was with the freakishly talented director of the movie, Tommy Wirkola. He and I talked about how he's done such wonderful things already in his career... and he's only in his 30's! He told me about the challenges that come along with making a movie that brings together old and new as well as drama, action, horror and comedy. We talked about the possibility of a sequel... and I told him I had an idea for one! PS - I totally have a crush on him.
Next was my interview with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton. She was an absolute sweetheart from the moment we sat down. Jeremy's attention seemed to be a little more difficult to catch, but I heard they had been doing press for many many hours so it's sorta understandable that his brain may have been ready for a break. We talked about playing action roles and how they prepare for such physically demanding roles.
My last interview of the day was with the absolutely stunning Famke Janssen. First and foremost, I hope I didn't make her uncomfortable with how much I stared at her because she is absolutely beautiful. We talked about the long process of putting on and taking off her witch make up, how tall she is and how she makes hipster clothing for her doggy!
I had an amazing time! Don't forget to catch Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters in theaters on January 25, 2013!
Here are some other cool pictures that I snapped on my weekend getaway, enjoy!
