This event is to help raise funds and awareness for children and adults with disabilities. Participation is $25 for runners and family walkers. (map) This is a celebration of the Mexican Independence Day. This is also the 200th Anniversary! The festival runs Saturday, 9/18 from 12pm-10pm and Sunday, 9/19 12pm-8pm. Join the River Road Crew for the 2nd Annual Duck Race on Thursday, 9/23 from 4pm-7pm at the pond of the Alden of Waterford Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Aurora. (map) Proceeds from the event will benefit the Leukemia Research Foundation. Participants purchase numbered, rubber ducks for $5 each and on event day, the ducks are placed into the pond at one end and race to the other end of the pond- assisted by "current" provided by the Aurora Fire Department. The owner of the first duck to cross the finish line wins $500. There are also prizes for second and third place. The event honors veterans and will include the National Guard and Fox Valley Marines.
