11 Western Suburban Teams Remain in State Football Semifinals

Tomorrow, the 16 teams from across the state that will play for a state title will be decided during the semifinals of the IHSA playoffs.

There’s a large contingent of teams spread over the eight classes from the western suburbs!

Class 5A is completely comprised of River-area teams!

Nazareth (La Grange) will take on St. Francis (Wheaton) at 1:00 on Saturday. The winner will battle either Joliet Catholic or Morris for a state title. JCA and Morris kickoff at 2:00 Saturday.

In 3A, Montini (Lombard) will host undefeated Wilmington on Saturday at 1:00.

In 4A, Coal City will host DePaul (Chicago) at 1:00.

In 6A, the Vikings of Geneva will host top-ranked Cary Grove at 1:00, with the winner meeting either Richards (Oak Lawn) or East St. Louis.

In 7A, the Batavia Bulldogs travel to New Lenox to play Cinderella team Lincoln-Way Central.

And, in the big school conference, Naperville Central hosts York (Elmhurst) for the right to take on either Lincoln-Way East or Loyola in the state finals next weekend.

FULL PLAYOFF SCHEDULE

The state title games will take place at Illinois State University this year. Classes 1A-4A will play on Friday, November 29th. Classes 5A-8A will play Saturday, November 30th at Hancock Stadium.
