A true rarity from the early days of rock ‘n roll has emerged – a never-before-released recording of Rory Gallagher and Jerry Lee Lewis covering the Rolling Stones.

The duo teamed up in 1973 for a cover of “Satisfaction” that never saw the light of day – but will appear on the upcoming album The Best Of Rory Gallagher.

As the story goes, Lewis had never heard of the song and felt “a bit bamboozled” in the studio – at one point even questioning if the song was real.  But it didn’t stop him from adding a ripping piano solo and singing along a few lines at the end.

The Best Of Rory Gallagher will be out in October.
