A Great Idea Comes to Naperville

Hi this is Leslie Harris. Several years ago, I interviewed a woman who started a coffee shop that employs and trains special needs adults and teens. How cool is that? So cool that Naperville now has their own cafe that also employs adults with special needs.

The Phoenix Coffee House in Naperville opened with a mission to offer job opportunities to people with special needs. It’s been such a huge success that they ran out of supplies on their second day!

The Phoenix Coffee House owner Jared Nichols believes that no one is unemployable, and that no matter what the barriers, everyone can find some way of being productive.

You can get lattes, cappuccinos and other drinks, as well as bakery items from D’Ettas in downtown Naperville.

The coffee house is partnering with Awesome Life Academy, which teaches skills to people with special needs. I can’t wait to check this place out.

The Phoenix Coffee House is at 2244 West 95th street in Naperville, just west of Book Road, inside Compass Church. They’re open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
