A REAL Farm in Downers Grove?
Hi, Leslie Harris filling in for Mitch Michaels. I’ve lived in Downers Grove over 20 years, and we have a great farmers market on Saturday mornings at the Main Street train station, so I was surprised to see a social media post about a second farmers market in a location that I was unfamiliar with. I decided to check it out yesterday afternoon. Imagine my surprise when I found an actual farm, at the south end of Downers Grove.
Honey Bee Garden Farm is a delightful place to visit. There are ponies and a horse (which I go to pet) goats, chickens and dogs, as well as bee hives. By the way, did you know that locally raised honey has greater health benefits than if your honey comes from far away?
Anyway, Thursday through Saturday, they have a farmers market where they sell their fresh eggs, honey and produce, along with a small artisan market. There’s also a beautiful pond, and opportunities for families to have picnics as well as kids activities. Check them out HERE
