Dusty Springfield makes her TV debut on The Ed Sullivan Show, singing “I Only Want To Be With You”.

 1969

The Turtles and The Temptations performed at the White House for a ball given by President Richard Nixon’s daughter, Tricia. Mark Volman of The Turtles was reported to have fallen off the stage several times.

 1975

Springfield, Missouri’s Ozark Mountain Daredevils topped the Cashbox Best Sellers chart with their biggest hit, “Jackie Blue”.

 1968

Jim Morrison incited a riot at a Doors’ concert in Chicago. After writhing, jumping and even sliding maracas into his pants, Morrison had the crowd so wound up; they rushed the stage, eventually destroying it.
