So here we are another year older, but I like to think of it as another year better. I mean come on, age brings on many things, wisdom, experience, life appreciation, reflection and hopefully a little more disposable income! Age is relative! Your as old as feel and that really does apply across the board. How’s it go now, 50 is the new 30, 60 is the new 40, 70’s the new 50! I will say this, when I celebrate different artists birthdays, on the air, I always give the year they were born in and their age! At least when I’m celebrating guys birthdays. Our lady rockers is a different story. One never mentions the age of a lady! It just isn’t done…at least not by me! That’s why I had to laugh when I saw this story about French author Yann Moix who told Marie Claire magazine he found women of 50 or older “too old”. I prefer younger women’s bodies, that’s all. End of. The body of a 25-year-old woman is extraordinary. The body of a woman of 50 is not extraordinary at all,” he said. The comments have sparked an angry backlash on social media Marina Foïs, a French comedian, joked in a tweet that because she is about to turn 49 she only has “one year and 14 days” left to sleep with the author. One twitter user mocked him, saying women over 50 were likely “breathing a sigh of relief” at his comments. Another jokingly asked: “Can women under 50 be invisible to you as well please?” I like who I like and I don’t have to answer to the court of taste,” he said, before joking he probably was not the best catch either. “50-year-old women do not see me either!” The guy is obviously a butthead, but hey everybody has the right to choose, right! Women of all ages are beautiful! I am blessed with a woman, Susie, who’s crossed that 50 threshold, but who is so beautiful in so many ways that I am truly blessed and am a lucky man. All you have to do is see her smile and that says it all. Age is not the prerequisite to beauty. The photo of Susie above, taken by my pal Wally Kilburg at RiverEdge Park, is a classic example of what I mean!!
