An Easy Way to Make a Difference in DuPage County
Hi this is Leslie Harris filling in for Mitch Michaels. I’ve worked at The River for a long time, and I’ve lived in the western suburbs even longer. I’ve heard a lot about the DuPage Care Center, but I thought I’d do some research to find out more about it.
The DuPage Care center was originally built in 1888 as a home for the indigent. In the 1930s, it became a nursing facility and has now developed into a modern, well-equipped and professionally staffed treatment and rehabilitation center for the chronically ill in the state of Illinois. 75% are 55 and over, and about 70% receive public aid.
The center focuses on helping residents get well, and back on their feet.
As you might imagine, the residents of the DuPage Care Center are in need of all sorts of things like puzzles and games, electronics, postage stamps, and personal care items. These donations support both the residents and the staff, and donations can be dropped off near the main entrance.
