Antonio’s Song at the Goodman Theatre

Hi, it’s Leslie Harris, and this past Monday, I attended a performance of Antonio’s Song/I Was Dreaming of a Son at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. This is a powerful one-man show co-written by Antonio Edwards Suarez and Dael Orlandersmith, and performed by Suarez.

Antonio shares his experiences and struggles of being biracial, and how growing up, he was torn between his African-American friends, his Hispanic friends, and his love of art, music and especially dance. He also has a young son, and fatherhood does not always come easy, even though he adores his son. And he explores the pain of so many friends and family members who grew up without fathers of their own.

Antonio’s Song is playing now at the Goodman Theatre through May 28th. Find out more and get your tickets HERE
