Hi there, it’s John Calhoun. For six days a week, I read the paper online. However, on Sunday mornings, I read an actual newspaper while drinking my coffee. It’s a simple pleasure. But today, very few people in their 30’s or younger read the news in paper form.

Newspapers are not what they used to be.

  • A paper route was often a kid’s first job.
  • The personal ads were very popular before social media came along.
  • Newspapers featured pages of items for sale by individuals — cars, pets, furniture – almost anything.
  • Newspapers were a great resource for job seekers.

And back in those pre-internet days, listening to the radio required an actual radio!

Well, no matter how you listen to 95.9 The River, thanks. We appreciate it.
