At last — the induction!
Tonight (Saturday 11/7), finally the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2020 induction is happening! Though it will be virtual.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame‘s Class of 2020 waited years for their big moment… then had to wait another seven months. But they’ll finally get their due this weekend. After postponing its induction ceremony back in May, the Hall will hold a “virtual” ceremony tonight on HBO.
This year’s class includes Nine Inch Nails, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Notorious B.I.G., and possibly the most blast-from-the-past inductee this year, T.Rex.
Other stars appearing in the special include Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Luke Bryan, and Miley Cyrus. And of course there will be a joyous but sad addition to the ceremony, a tribute to Eddie Van Halen. Though the plan is not to have any live performances, but clips for the artists instead.
In addition, the Rock Hall launched a podcast yesterday called the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Vault” featuring replays of the most famous induction speeches from the past 35 years! Included in some of the first few episodes are the Beatles induction by Mick Jagger in 1988 and the Jimmy Buffet speech from 1998 inducting the Eagles. And in some cases, the podcast will feature previously unreleased material since speeches are sometimes shortened for TV.
So enjoy this great Rock & Roll Hall of Fame weekend!
