I know I’m not the only parent who’s kids use these Contigo water bottles. They really are great, except for this one pesky problem where the spout may pop off and be a choking hazard!

This is no small recall, either! We’re talking nearly 6 million units that could be defective.

I have two of these bad boys, and upon inspection, they seem fine. Contigo has put out a step-by-step instructions on how to tell if your bottle is involved in the recall, and how to tell if there are any defects that would require you ordering a new lid.

You must first visually inspect your water bottle to make sure it’s really one of the units in question. Then test the spout to see if it is coming loose. Mine are not, but many are!

Here is all the information on what to do if you have a defective water bottle and how to get a replacement cap.

Careful out there!
