The Colonial Cafe at 1961 W. Galena Road in Aurora will close later this month and a new, upscale breakfast and lunch restaurant called SYRUP will take it’s place.
The Feb. 24 closing of the restaurant will leave just two Colonial Cafe locations remaining in the suburbs, in Naperville and St. Charles. Locations in Elgin and Crystal Lake closed in 2018, an Algonquin location was replaced with a SYRUP restaurant in July, and a second St. Charles location was replaced with a SYRUP in October.
SYRUP is described as a “modern farmhouse-meets-luxe, breakfast and lunch destination.” It will feature a full-service coffee bar, fresh squeezed orange juice, and locally sourced meats and produce.
Employees of the Colonial Cafe will be given the opportunity to work at SYRUP and customers with coupons or gift cards from the Aurora Colonial Cafe will be able to use them at the remaining locations.
This is tough for me. My family would go there all the time to eat, my nieces and nephew loved taking pictures sitting on the cow sculpture and I remember it being THE place to go after band concerts when I was a kid!
