I have been a Bears fan since I first started watching them in 1963 while going to school at Culver in Indiana. They won the NFL Championship that year and the next year my home town Browns beat the favored Baltimore Colts 27-0 to win the championship. A game I attended with my Dad. I moved here to Chicago in December of 1971 and was a season ticket holder for the Bears for 25 years from 1977 till 2002. I was at all their playoff games in those years reveling in the 85′ Championship and reeling from their playoff losses in the following years. 2006 was another uplifting year that ended in defeat to the Colts in the Super Bowl. Then there was last year. A huge turn around, a 12-4 record, great hope and anticipation about the future and then of course the double doink!! So it was wait’ll next year and now here we are!! High expectations have been dashed by poor performance, sloppy play and less than inspirational efforts. We face the final four games of the season and a slim road to the playoffs by having to beat The Cowboys here tonight. The Bears have won three of their last four, with two victories last week against the Giants and Lions. A third victory in 12 days would improve their remote chances at a postseason berth, but first they will have to slow down a Cowboys offense that ranks among the NFL’s best. Then they play the first place Packers in Green Bay next Sunday, Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City on Sunday night December 22nd here at Soldier Field and they finish in Minnesota against the Vikings on Sunday December 29th. The Bears record is 6-6. Anybody going with a 10-6 finish? It would be nice, but unlikely. Maybe I’m not keeping the faith enough or maybe I’m too just realistic. Come on Bears surprise me for Christmas!!
