Benet, Downers Grove North Hoping to Cut Down the Nets at U of I
What a magical run by the Trojans of DGN! The boys were a 4th seed in their regional but upsets over Whitney Young, Hinsdale Central and a 20-pt smackdown of Kenwood in their last three games have them in the State Championship semifinals!
Years from now, a lot of Downers Grove North basketball fans will say they saw the historic win over Kenwood.

They take on another #1 seed in Moline on Friday. If they win, they take on either Benet or New Trier who play in the other semifinal.
Benet, out of Lisle, was more of a favorite in their path to Champaign! After rolling through first three playoff games with wins no closer 16 points, the Redwings got a scare from Geneva in the sectional final, but beat the Vikings 35-34. After another dominating 30-point win over Auburn, the Redwings will take on New Trier at the State Farm Center on the campus of U of I on Friday.
There are three #1 seeds and the lone #4 seed Trojans in the 4A state semis. It would be AWESOME to get an all-suburban final!

The Benet boys will have a tough time doing better than their girls’ team, who lost in the State Finals to O’Fallon! The Lady Redwings also had to beat Geneva on their way to the title game. A great season, for sure!

A local school also won the 3A girls’ state title! Congrats to Nazareth Academy out of LaGrange for bringing home the hardware!
