Cannabis Sales Keep Getting Higher

Hi it’s Leslie Harris, and cannabis dispensaries in Illinois had sales of more than 1.5 billion dollars. This is up 12% from 2021. It’s also up $131% from 2020, which was the first year that recreational Cannabis sales were legal in our state.

Governor Pritzker said, “Not only did we break our previous sales record by more than 12% with a total of 1.5 billion dollars, we also saw the first of our social equity adult use cannabis dispensaries open their doors for business, paving the way for an even stronger 2023.”

Another $189 conditional licensees are in the process of receiving their full dispensary license, which will then allow them to begin to sell cannabis. New applications will be accepted starting January 30th. Even though I don’t use cannabis,

I’m still salty about the fact that our village council people refuse to even consider putting a dispensary in when they first became legal. That’s a lot of tax dollars we’ve lost.
