Commercial Grade Fireworks Found Inside Hotel Room, Car at Joliet Casino

I’m no expert, but I would assume bringing commercial grade fireworks into a hotel room isn’t standard operating procedure!

According to Joliet police, housekeeping staff at Harrah’s Joliet alerted police just before noon today to what they described as “unmarked explosives” inside a guest’s room.

The casino and hotel were evacuated and the bomb squad from Cook County was called in to investigate. They found the items to be commercial grade fireworks, and they also found commercial grade fireworks inside a vehicle in the hotel’s parking garage.

The Cook County bomb squad took the fireworks for disposal before the casino and hotel were reopened.

The press release did not mention if anyone was taken into custody.
