There is controversy over the former White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer for being chosen to compete on Dancing With the Stars!  The host Tom Bergeron doesn’t think politics should be mixed into the show.  Read the rest of the story, below.

Variety magazine says Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron disagrees with ABC’s decision to cast former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Dancing With the Stars. He tweeted, “I met with the DWTS executive producer several months ago and tried to steer the show away from politics. It is the prerogative of the producers, in partnership with the network, to make whatever decisions they feel are in the best long-term interests of the franchise,” he wrote, without explicitly naming Spicer. “We can agree to disagree, as we do now, but ultimately it’s their call. I’ll leave it to them to answer any further questions about those decisions.”

Spicer tells Mediaite, “I’m going out and having some fun. I’m going to enjoy myself, and if more people like me, than that’s great. I’m very happy with who I am. I’m very happy with the friends that I have. The idea that I need this to make myself feel better is preposterous. I’m in this because I enjoy it. I’m very comfortable with who I am, what I believe and who I support, and that’s it. Tom’s been a great host for 28 seasons. My overall hope is that at the end of this season that Tom looks at this and says, bringing people together of very diverse backgrounds, whether it’s in politics or other areas, and allowing them to show America how we can engage in a really respectful and civil way, is actually a way to help bring the country together as opposed to bring it apart.”

Bergeron responded to Spicer by saying, ‘The nice thing is Sean will be in charge of assessing audience size’.

Variety magazine claims Spicer is ear ning $125,000 for the show’s rehearsals and first two weeks on the air. He can earn a maximum of $295,000. Spicer earned $180,000 while working for Donald Trump
