CNET claims Facebook is considering hiding “likes” to improve users’ mental health. They are experimenting with a test that would hide the number of likes on all News Feed posts. The company previously tested a similar change over the summer on Instagram.
My opinion is, why post anything if you are not going to see the reactions to the story or picture or video? Isn’t the whole purpose of FB is to stay in touch with people and see what they are doing and how they are reacting to your stuff. That way you know what works and what doesn’t. They could be hiding likes from everyone except you and that works too.
I do understand that there is a popularity element to all this and that some people rate their popularity by how many likes they get. Those that don’t get many, may have some issues with their own likeability!?
So what do you think?
