During isolation, why not torture yourself with an insane jigsaw puzzle!

Typical jigsaw puzzles are so yesterday.  Come to think of it, so is the phrase “so yesterday”.

Hey, it’s Rich Dale.  You don’t need me to tell you how much havoc is being wreaked on the economy by COVID-19.  But of course, there are a few business that are booming.  One item that’s selling better than ever right now is jigsaw puzzles.  People need something to make the time pass a little faster at home.  Sales of puzzles have grown over 300% in the last few weeks.

And there are some doozies out there.

Kodak has released a puzzle that is 51,300 pieces!  They say it takes about 500 hours to do.  It’s divided into 27 sections, each representing a wonder from around the world.  The problem is that it cost between $400 and $600, and right now, a lot of people don’t have that kind of money to throw at a puzzle.

Another one, with a price that’s more normal, is kind of a variation on the all white puzzle.  It’s a puzzle whose pieces are all clear!  That sounds hard, but actually, the hardest version of that is only 144 pieces.  Which if all the pieces are clear, is probably hard enough!

You can always get the all white or all black kind, and those you can get in 1000 pieces.  And then there are the kind that have a picture.  Sounds normal, but you can get the kind that has the same picture on both sides!  Imagine trying to lay out those pieces, never knowing if all the pieces are on the same side or not.

Puzzles like this have a dual purpose:  they help you pass the time while you’re home, and also make it so getting back to work will seem super-easy by comparison!
