Earth Day!

My garden from last summer. Just waitin’ to start plantin’ again.

So today is Earth Day and it’s a lovely one at that! Sun shining, blue sky, not much cloud cover and we’re moving in the right direction temperature wise. Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues, and Earth Day 2021 is the holiday’s 51st anniversary. It’s now a global celebration that’s sometimes extended into Earth Week, a full seven days of events focused on green living and was the brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson. All the talk of the Green New Deal, climate change and now today President Biden hosts a global climate summit and commits the US to a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030. We as individuals can do our part by simply picking up after ourselves and recycling as much material as we possibly can. The less that goes to the landfill the better the surrounding earth remains. I love green and colorful growing things so I plant my garden every year. It gives me solace and makes me enjoy the outdoors even more. Plant something yourself this year! It’ll make you feel good!
