Eight Local Hockey Players Picked in NHL Draft

The most Chicago Steel players ever chosen in one NHL draft is four. This year, EIGHT Steel players were picked up by big league clubs in their recent NHL draft setting the new franchise record!

Here are the Steel players and the teams that picked them.

Brendan Brisson (Forward) – Vegas Golden Knights 1st Round (29th Overall)


Sam Colangelo (Forward) – Anaheim Ducks 2nd Round (36th Overall)

Ian Moore (Defenseman) – Anaheim Ducks 3rd Round (67th Overall)

Sean Farrell (Forward) – Montreal Canadiens 4th Round (124th Overall)

Matthew Kessel (Forward) – St. Louis Blues 5th Round (150th Overall)

Luke Reid (Defenseman) – Nashville Predators 6th Round (166th Overall)

Joe Miller (Forward) – Toronto Maple Leafs 6th Round (180th Overall)

Gunnarwolfe Fontaine (Forward) – Nashville Predators 7th Round (202nd Overall)

The Steel will begin the 2020-2021 season on Friday, November 6 when they take on the Youngstown Phantoms at the Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva!
