Fox Valley Students Awarded $2.3 million in Scholarships!

Did that catch your attention? Hi it’s Leslie Harris, and you read that right. $2.3 million in scholarships were awarded to 450 Fox Valley students this month, including high school seniors, college, grad and trade students. How cool is that?

The scholarships were provided from The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley from “A future focused local donor who avidly supports the pursuit of continued education.”

All 450 scholarship recipients live in the greater Aurora area, the Tri-Cities and Kendall County.

High school students are encouraged to apply for the award by filling out one application in the fall for the following spring’s awards, but the winners range in age from 16 to 58!

Nearly 80% of the scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors. 71% of the scholarships were awarded based on financial need, and 29% were for academic achievement.

The Community Foundation was founded in 1948, and has awarded more than $21 million in scholarships.

If you or someone you know is interested in applying for next year’s scholarships, the online applications will be posted in mid October at cffrv.com

You can also check that same website for volunteer opportunities.

Also, if you or someone you know would like to start your own scholarship fund, the Community Foundation can help you with that as well. For more on that, contact Julie Christman at 630-896-7800 or jchristman@cffrv.org
