Frida Kahlo Comes to the College of DuPage
Hey there, it’s Leslie and I recently went to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the College of DuPage. If you are at all interested in her life or her artwork, I highly recommend it.
A friend who works for the college told me they have sold tickets to people from 47 different States! So, yeah, this is a BIG DEAL.
The Art exhibit represents roughly 10% of her entire body of work. It is on loan from the Olmedo Museum in Mexico, and it’s quite the coup that COD got the rights to this exhibit over The Art Institute and The Museum of Contemporary Art.
It’s interesting to note how her art changes from her earliest works, through the end of her life when she was in a great deal of pain.
What I found to be just as interesting was the rest of the exhibit about her life: her marriages to the famous artist Diego Rivera, replicas of the dresses that she wore and her influence as a fashion icon, a replica of her bed, and a miniature model of the house where she was born and where she died.
Frida Kahlo: Timeless is at the College of DuPage now through September 6, 2021. Find out more HERE
By the way, yes that’s me in the picture, channeling Frida!
