Glam rock star and convicted pedophile Gary Glitter has been released from a UK prison – after serving just half of his sentence.
The 79-year-old, real name Paul Gadd, was automatically released on Friday, eight years into a 16-year sentence. He will wear a GPS tag and continue to be “closely monitored”, authorities say.
Gadd was convicted in 2015 on charges of attempted rape, indecent assault, and sex with a minor. His victims ranged in age from 10-13.
As a performer, Glitter had a string of hits in the 1970’s, most notably the stadium anthem ‘Rock and Roll (Part 2)’ which was a staple at Chicago Bulls games in the 90s, most notably, as the Bulls came back to win game six over the Trailblazers in 1992.
