Half Record Store. Half Craft Coffee House. All Awesome. The Black Dog Vinyl Cafe in Plainfield is Open

They just opened about 5 minutes from my front door, and I continue to find excuses to drive by and stop in for a latte and to flip through their new vinyl!

They are the Black Dog Vinyl Cafe in south Plainfield on Rt. 59 just south of Renwick Road. Their space is huge, and literally one half of it is a cozy coffee house where you can grab a latte or one of their signature espresso drinks. The other half is a record store where you can flip through racks and racks of new and classic vinyl while listening to some great tunes over the speakers.

I have profound respect for anybody willing to start a local business…but to start a business in the heat of a pandemic…well, that takes guts! That’s exactly what Mike and Cathy have done, and it sure looks like they did a great job, even down to the pictures on the walls which represent their own personal musical memories. The space is warm and inviting. The coffee is delicious and the vinyl selection is spot on…especially if you are a River listener, which I suspect you are.

Oh, and since they are sponsoring this week’s Rock ‘N Roll Diner, we are giving away $25 gift cards to the BDVC to use on coffee, vinyl or merch. Just check out our daily trivia questions on our Facebook page and answer in the comments!
