Here’s Your Warning!

I hope you are prepared, because snow is a’comin’!
Here’s what the National Weather Service has to say. I think it’s still reliable, even with the government shutdown.
* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9
inches expected. Winds gusting 30 to 35 mph.* WHERE…Lake IL, DuPage and Cook Counties.
* WHEN…From 3 PM this afternoon to noon CST Saturday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could be very difficult. Strong
winds will result in blowing and drifting snow and could
significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could
impact the evening commute.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you
must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
Word is it will be worse the farther north you are. They are also saying that once the initial storm passes, there is a good chance for some wicked lake effect snow, but where that will form is anyone’s guess.
Snow will start out across northern Illinois this afternoon, and then slowly spread southward into the evening hours. pic.twitter.com/QNVoYBp3F7
