Well it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go. the bell ringers are out at every super market, the neighborhoods are starting to really fill in with all those lovely Christmas lights, the ads on TV are Black Friday Prices Are Still Happening Here Until Christmas and of course the traditional yearly showings of many great Christmas movies like What a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story (filmed in part in my hometown of Cleveland), the many versions of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, The Grinch That Stole Christmas and of course Chicago’s own Home Alone filmed up in Winnetka. I have a a tenuous connection to one part of Home Alone. The church (Trinity United Methodist Church, 1024 Lake Ave., Willamette).
I got married in that church 9 years before the movie was made (#2). No I wasn’t scouting locations for John Hughes and Chris Columbus! Just lucky I guess. There’s just something about that flick that always makes me sit down and watch it. Maybe you too. Karen Ann Cullotta has delightful piece in today’s Trib. all about Home Alone that I thought I’d share.
