How far have you traveled to see a concert?

So I am traveling to Detroit in August to go see Heart because I like the guest line up of that particular show.  In Detroit Heart are playing with Joan Jett and Elle King … two of my fav’s… (In Chicago they have Sheryl Crow and Lucie Silvas … both great artists but I want to see Joan and Elle!)  So Detroit isn’t too far to travel for a concert.  I have traveled to Cleveland to see U2 before and obviously up to Milwaukee a couple times.  I lived in the country Luxembourg for a short while in the nineties … trust me … no band ever came to Luxembourg so you had to go to another country to see shows (I took the train to Brussels to see Simply Red once … so worth it … amazing show!)

Last summer Danielle and I went to see the Stray Cats at Naperville’s Rib Fest – the band had not played live in a really long time … and people had traveled from all around the world to see them.  Which is why it was so gutting that the concert was cut short due to weather.  The band was gutted, the crowd was gutted … such a bummer.

Tomorrow the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be performing in Egypt at The Great Pyramids of Giza.  (one of the Seven Wonders of the World!)   I bet there are some diehard RHCP fans who will travel for that show. (A bit far for me to be honest!)   Good news is that the show is live streaming at 2 p.m. CT tomorrow on Facebook, Twitter and the band’s official YouTube channel.  (A much cheaper option than a plane ticket to Egypt. )

So tell me on Facebook… what is the farthest you have traveled to see a live show?
