Hi it’s Leslie Harris. When I named my kids, I thought it was giving them unusual names. Nothing too weird, but they have encountered more kids that share their name than I thought they were. In fact, the younger one actually had a best friend with the same name, and even though we thought we were using an unusual spelling, the best friend even shared that spelling!

Here’s what’s trending for 2024. You might find some ideas if you or your kids are expecting, or you might want to stay away from these names since they’re trending.

According to today.com, there are three different trends: to choose your baby’s name from nature, the old west, or a classic story book. Here are some of the popular choices:

Tate

Xiomara (I think it’s funny that this one is trending, since that was the mom ending the Virgin when which went off the air in 2019)

What I noticed about all these names is that they are unusual, and many of them are gender-neutral.
