The new year will bring a boost in the paychecks of minimum-wage American workers in more than 20 states (including Illinois) on January 1!
In February 2019, Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the first minimum wage increase in Illinois since 2010 into law.
In Illinois, the 2020 minimum wage rate of $9.25 an hour takes effect on Jan. 1, 2020. It will reach $15 in 2025.
By the way, the tipped minimum wage for next year will be $5.55.
