Illinois: One of the Best States For Retirement?

Hi, Leslie Harris here, and we’ve all been hearing how people are leaving Illinois in droves, especially as they near retirement age. A new study finds that Illinois is actually one of the best states for retirees. The team at Scholaroo ranked Illinois at number 12!

Scholaroo looked at five key dimensions, with 38 relevant metrics.

The area of Healthcare included nurses available, number of retirement homes, and life expectancy.

The area of Safety included crimes against the elderly, and organizations and assistance services for the elderly.

The area of Wellness included air quality, weather, access to nature, and elderly food insecurity.

The area of Affordability included cost of living, inheritance tax, and in-home health care costs.

Entertainment included museums, RV parks, bingo halls and golf courses.

So maybe Illinois ain’t so bad after all!
