Is It Just Me Or Do Ariel’s Friends in the New Little Mermaid Look…Unsettling?

The internet has found plenty to criticize with these Disney live-action remakes.  But one of the most common gripes is that the CGI-created animal characters look TOO REAL.

That “photorealism”, as it’s called, really drains the personality out of the characters, if you ask me.  It was very apparent in “The Lion King”, and it looks like the same thing is happening with the upcoming “Little Mermaid” remake.

Disney released official photos of Ariel’s friends Flounder, Sebastian the crab, and Scuttle the seagull.  And they don’t look cute or relatable with big eyes and human-like facial features….just kind of unsettling, right?
