It’s International Cat Day!

Hi this is Leslie Harris, filling in for Mitch Michaels all week, and today is International Cat Day! What could be better?
If you know anything about me, you probably already know that proud to call myself a crazy cat lady. I’ve had cats my entire life, and in the last few years I’ve started doing a lot of pet rescue work, mostly with cats.
I recently took in a mom with a litter of kittens that had been dumped in a dog crate on the side of the road in Quincy Illinois. I’ve had them about a week, and these little ones are starting to warm up to me, but a few are still scared. One of them even hissed at me earlier today, but very lightly. We’re making progress.
Did you know that a cat’s purr has healing properties? It’s been scientifically proven!
Cats can make about 100 different sounds. Dogs can make about 10.
Two cats are usually better than one. Two cats will keep each other company while you’re busy, and are less likely to get into mischief. They’re generally happier, but of course there are exceptions.
Anyway, here is my Pixie with one of my former foster kittens, who was an orphan. Pixie loves to mother the babies, even though she was spayed when she was 2 months old, long before she could have kittens of her own.
Show me your kitties, but also tell me a bit about them! Happy international Cat Day
