It’s The Final Weekend to Watch Live Professional Baseball in Joliet

Not many sporting events are open across the country, but one team in our own backyard has managed to pull it off.

The Joliet Slammers organized the City of Champions Cup – creating four teams from scratch and playing baseball all summer long.

The overall play has been really good since it included many minor leaguers who didn’t have a team to play for since the MiLB shut down at the start of the pandemic. A few players were even signed to Major League organizations!

If you’ve been waiting to catch a game at DuPage Medical Group Field in downtown Joliet, you better hurry! The City of Champions Cup wraps up on Sunday. If you are going tonight, I may see you there!

Wonder how it all got started? It’s a pretty cool story about how people just wanted to play ball and do it safely! Check out my interview with Slammers GM Heather Mills from back in June:
