Jane’s Addiction Cancels Tour After On-State Scuffle

It’s official…Jane’s Addiction has canceled their tour after the on-state fight between Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and bassist Eric Avery.

Jane’s Addiction ended their show early Friday in Boston,  after Farrell assaulted Navarro onstage. Perry got in Dave’s face and shoulder-checked him before throwing the punch.  A crew member tried to get Perry to stop, then bassist Eric Avery put him in a headlock and punched him in the stomach.

The band issued a statement Saturday saying, quote, “We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night.”

Regardless of the apology, they put out this statement earlier today.

Dave Navarro put out his own statement on Instagram as well, putting the blame on Farrell’s mental state.

A post shared by Dave Navarro (@davenavarro)

Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour.

Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.

We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis.

Our hearts are broken.

Perry’s wife shared her perspective on what went down.  She called her husband a “crazed beast” and said he had been frustrated with the sound because his voice was being drowned out by the band.

She also added that the band started the song “Ocean Size” before Perry was ready.  Overall, she credited Dave for looking “handsome and cool” in the middle of a fight, but she thinks that Eric took “cheap shots” on Perry.

The most amusing part to this entire thing is that Liam Gallagher has entered the chat! One of the two guys who we expect to be throwing punches during his own band’s reunion is commenting on this band throwing punches on THEIR reunion.

Warning:  You can read her full explanation here . . . the altercation video contains profanity.
