You hear it all the time. Blood supplies are low! It’s an emergency! But it tends to go in one ear and out the other. As I started working with Versiti Blood Centers of Illinois to help spark more blood donations, it was only then I realized the severity of it all. The people who need the blood we donate really, really need it! A majority of blood recipients are cancer patients and trauma victims who have been in accidents. It’s the family that’s been in a car wreck hoping to not lose their mother, or a child battling Leukemia hoping for as many birthdays as that evil disease will allow. Those are the people to keep in mind when you consider if you have time to donate blood.

This Monday, Versiti has teamed up with four local baseball teams who are opening up their stadiums for blood drives!

The Kane County Cougars, Joliet Slammers, Schaumburg Boomers and Windy City Thunderbolts all want to strike out blood shortages!

I’ll be broadcasting live at Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva — home of the Kane County Cougars! — to support the cause, donate blood myself, and hand out custom 95.9 The River #DonateLife wrist bands to those who donate!

No matter which stadium you donate at, you will get two tickets to a future game and a free Bluetooth speaker, while supplies last! Yeah…no one is above bribery here!

And hey, since I’m going to be out at Kane County’s stadium, I want to make sure that blood drive is the best one! So sign up at the link below! Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome to!

If you can’t make it to Geneva with me, that’s fine! If Joliet, Schaumburg or Midlothian are more convenient, sign up to give blood at those ballparks on Monday! You’ll still get baseball tickets at the speaker (while supplies last!).

The need is real, and the need is great. Donations through Versiti are kept local and will help our neighbors at local hospitals! You even get a text message when your donation is used! Please find an hour out of your day to donate blood and save a life.
