Joliet Fireworks To Take Place Away from Memorial Stadium For First Time in Decades
June 29, 2021 10:05AM CDT
If you are heading out to the the City of Joliet’s official fireworks show, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, go to Memorial Stadium as everyone has done for the last 70 years or so!
The fireworks used to be shot off from the softball fields next to the stadium, both owned by the Joliet Park District.
Last year, though, they put down brand new field turf on those softball fields! Naturally, they are trying to avoid having large explosions on their new investment, so the decision was made to move the fireworks to Joliet Junior College and it’s numerous parking spots.
Here is the basic info.
- Gates will open at 6 p.m. the day of the event.
- Fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m.
- The public may enter using the main entrance off of Houbolt–Elmer Rowley Drive, or the main entrance. Centennial Drive/Rich Rivera Way is restricted to emergency vehicle use.
