Hi this is Leslie Harris, and earlier this week I was having a conversation with a friend who’s about my age, about a young woman who had a lot of trouble adulting in her 20s. I was surprised to hear my friend say this, because the younger woman had been living on out of her parents house. She did have a roommate, but she was supporting herself. I think my friend’s point was that the young woman was drinking and probably doing drugs, but I know kids who are well into their twenties and still living at home. One kid I know has a full-time job, doesn’t really drink much, doesn’t do drugs, and is still living at home with no plan to move out anytime soon. Even though he works full-time, he doesn’t make enough money actually support himself.

This got me thinking. What does it mean to adult? And are we who were old enough to be parents of these kids fitting that definition? I don’t have a full-time job, and haven’t since my kids were born. (Although, being a mom is definitely and full-time gig, but my kids are grown now)

I would love to know your thoughts. Please let me know in the comments
