Kane & DuPage Both Hit High Marks For Positivity Rate. Not Good!

Kane and DuPage counties have both hit the highest mark of positivity rate of the pandemic. Region 8’s positivity rate grew to 6.2 percent by August 31st, higher than it has been at any point since officials started tracking it. The positivity rate, which is the number of positive coronavirus tests divided by the number of tests administered has never been this high. The positivity rate was 4.4 percent on Aug. 4. It reached 5.8 percent by Aug. 20 and then surpassed 6 percent on Aug. 31. Residents of seven Midwest states need to be on high alert for catching COVID-19 over Labor Day weekend. “There are several states that are at risk for surging, namely North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in an interview published Thursday. “Those states are starting to see an increase in the percent positive of their testing; that is generally predictive that there’s going to be a problem.”   So as we say be safe and keep that proper distance, stay out of big crowds and wear the damn mask!
