Keeping the Happy in Happy Thanksgiving

Hi, Leslie here. Happy day before Thanksgiving!

Holidays are meant to be joyful, but so many of us experience stress. The stress of cooking, of cleaning, and maybe even the stress of being with family members who you have difficult relationships with. So how can we deal with it?

These suggestions are probably ones that you know already, but as a reminder, let’s revisit some of these:

Get some exercise! Exercise is a great stress buster, and the weather is supposed to be mild again tomorrow. Go out for a vigorous walk or run, for at least half an hour, or even longer if possible. Better yet, go for a walk in nature, and feel your blood pressure start to lower.

Make sure you are incorporating healthy foods into your diet. I’m not saying don’t eat the coffee cake and the pie. I’m saying make sure you eat some protein first, so that your blood sugar doesn’t spike and crash, causing your mood to drop.

Consider taking a break from screens, including social media and television. Make sure you are connecting with your loved ones.
