This guy is a GD animal, and a screening of his documentary and a live Q&A is planned for this weekend in Lemont.
You see, Kyle Maynard was born with congenital amputation leaving him with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end around the knee. However, his “no excuses” mentality has pushed him to be a best selling author, and award-winning extreme athlete and climb some of the world’s tallest mountain. Kyle was the first man to bearcrawl to the peak of Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro!
Like I said…he’s an animal, as well as an inspiration.
On Sunday, The Forge: Lemont Quarries Adventure Park will host a screening of Maynard’s documentary “A Fighting Chance” which will end with a Q & A with Maynard himself.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Forge’s charitable arm, The Forge Charitable Adventures, as well as South East Association for Special Parks and Recreation (SEASPAR) based in Downers Grove and committed to providing dynamic recreation programs and quality services for residents with disabilities in Downers Grove, Lemont and surrounding communities.
The even is scheduled for Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at The Forge in Lemont.
If you are looking for a bit of inspiration…a fire to be be lit under you, this is it.
Tickets are free if you wish, but there is also an suggested donation of $10. You must RSVP for the event, which you can do here.
