So a friend of mine tagged me to take part in the 30 day music challenge.   I was going to do it on my own Facebook page but thought it would be much more fun to do the challenge with River listeners.   So head over to the River’s Facebook page and let’s do this together …

DAY 1 – A song you like with a color in the title….  This one is hard because it has so many options.  My first thought was New Order’s Blue Monday (had to go eighties) but then I thought, do I go with my favorite color which is yellow… in which case I could look at Coldplay’s Yellow or Pearl Jam’s Yellow Ledbetter – both great tracks.  (As I said the biggest challenge to this music question is that there are so many options.)   Then it came it me.  The other day I was watching a documentary on eighties music (surprise..surprise!)  They featured the song  99 Luftballons (or 99 Red Balloons) and I was thinking what a rare hit that was in America in the eighties.  It was rare because the original version was still in German and we all loved it and we all got that it was about war even if we didn’t speak the language. (Well except when she mentions Captain Kirk.)  So it was a very powerful song that transcended language barriers.

So here you go… Day 1 …30 Day Music Challenge …A song I like with a color in the title
