NASA has gotten into the music business.  Sort of.

OK, full disclosure — this video is about a year old, but I just became aware of it, so it’s new to me, like buying a new used car.

It’s what’s called a “sonification”.  The process of sonification basically assigns frequency ranges to certain types of data, then pans left to right and gives the sounds that come from the data.  And despite the nerdy explanation, the sounds that come out are kind of cool.

This one is made from an image from the Hubble telescope.
