Queen’s biggest hit single is rather unique.

  • Freddie Mercury wrote the song while taking a bath at the Munich Hilton.
  • It’s the first time (on a Queen album) that Freddie played guitar rather than just singing.

The song is not typical of Freddie’s work, and “that’s because nothing is typical of my work.”  Freddie described himself as a loving person and said “Love was the inspiration for the song.”

Crazy Little Thing Called Love made its chart debut on December 22, 1979. Two months later, it was the number one song in America and remained at the top for 4 straight weeks.
