If you’ve been waiting for some new Metallica, today’s a good day!

Metallica announced this morning they will be hitting the road on their M72 World Tour, which includes TWO shows at every city they visit. Yes, that includes Chicago with two shows at Soldier Field on August 9th and 11th, 2024.

According to Live Nation:

Metallica’s M72 world tour will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits—with each No Repeat Weekend featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The M72 tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage…

OK…so who’s performing with Metallica during their Chicago stops? That would be Pantera and Mammoth WVH for their Friday show and Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills for their Saturday performance.

Two-day tickets will be on sale Friday, December 2 at ticketmaster.com and will include the option of pre-ordering 72 Seasons vinyl and/or CD. Single day tickets will be available beginning January 20. For further information including fan club presales, enhanced experiences and more, go to metallica.com/m72-info.

The tour will be promoting their new album 72 Seasons will be released on April 14, 2023! If you’d like to dig in a bit deeper into the background of the album, Pitchfork always does a great job.

Lux Aeterna is the sixth track on the album. The video is above.
