Miley Cyrus Has the #1 Rock Album in the Country

I’m trying really hard here. With new albums from AC/DC and the Smashing Pumpkins, it’s a shock to see Miley Cyrus at the top of the Rock Album chart.

Here’s what I’m telling myself: artists reinvent themselves all the time. Rock artists go country. Country artist go pop. Pop artist go rock. Happens all the time, so it’s not unheard of. Also, Cyrus is getting a lot of help from rock and roll legends like Billy Idol, Joan Jett and the one and only Stevie Nicks, so that gives the album a lot of credibility as well.

At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

But it’s not fair to judge if you don’t even listen, so I searched the track listing for her album Plastic Hearts and found a track that I thought would give me the best chance at being swayed. I saw the one above called Night Crawling which was co-written by Billy Idol and has him featured on the track.

I have to be honest…it’s pretty good! Very much in the vein of 1980s Nicks and Joan Jett.

I’m not sure I’ve built up to listening to the whole album yet…still have to mentally prepare for that…but I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.
